I'm sure this is my own stupidity. I think I scratched a hole in my head trying to figure out where I went wrong. The program loaded fine - Calendar is looking great, modules seem fine - everything seems great! No SEF running to mess things up. Tried two different editors, uninstalled and reinstalled - I just can't create/save any categories from the admin "categories" control panel - so I know it's me, but could use some help to set me straight before I go completely bald. I just know I overlooked the obvious somewhere.

Many Thanks!

I downloaded the new alfa today. Followed the instructions - here's the message:
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/.../public_html/libraries/joomla/filter/filterinput.php on line 436

Does this help you at all, Geraint???

I'm afraid I don't have time to sort out WYSIWYG editor specific problems at this stage - can you use another editor?

The problem doesn't arise with tinymce or xstandard .

I would also recommend you raise a bug report with the Joomla 1.5 team. FCK is adding

<br type=\"_moz\" />
to the end of lines

The method JFilterInput::_remove which is part of the cleaning routines gets into an infinite loop

Converting it to
Test FCK<br type="_moz" type="_moz" type="_moz" type="_moz" type="_moz" type="_moz"  ..... />

This is not a problem in JEvents its a problem in Joomla.

Geraint

Geraint -

Thank you for your input.

Because you were able to tell me what wasn't causing the problem - I found that all of my issues went away when I simply tried Internet Explorer rather than Firefox to load categories. Categories loaded smoothly in IE - I don't know why, but the issue is resolved if I use this browser. Events load up smoothly in both browsers - but I have to use IE to create categories - should someone else have this issue.

I knew it wasn't the editor because I had already tried using tnymce with the same issue.

Again, thank you for your input.
