One question and one related problem (http://www.aarecon.org using 1.43SVN)

Question: In the component configuration, I'm not certain about the difference between Access ("Who is allowed to create new events";) and Publish from Frontend ("Allow publishers, managers and admin users to publish content from frontend";).

Does this mean that I can authorize registered users to CREATE an event from the frontend, but if the Publish level is set higher it won't be published until someone authorizes it? Or something different?

Problem: If I set "Access" and "Publish from Frontend" to "All Registered Users" and login to the site with a user account, there's no "Add An Event" link visible -- but if I login to the front with an admin account, the link is visible. (If I set "Access" to "All", then the link is visible to everyone, as it should be.) Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.

I suspect you may have caching enabled. If so try clearing your JEvents cache after you change the config values.

Let me know if this helps.

Solved; problem on my end.

I had renamed two groups in the database: Authors to Members and Editors to Site Contributors

The component did not recognize the changed names, so was not giving them access. Returning the names to the original ones solved the problem.

Hope this helps someone else, too!
