Great! First off: I had to register to a forum and find my way all to the "free access" forum to post a simple question? Now I passed the 6 security measurements I am free to ask?!

So let it be:

So far thanks for the ongoing development of JEvents, which is still the most useful calendar component for Joomla. Now after years of use I can't find the answers to recenty arising questions from the team using the calendar.

Multi-categorisation was announced to be implemented in JEVEnts 2.0. Now I can't see what's so different in 2.0 and it seems this feature has been dropped?!

2nd question is: There is a "latest events module" on the homepage, but of course it shows all the entries from all the categories of the one big calendar. If one category suddenly has to enter and update a lot the homepage would be flooded with relatively unimportant events from the one category. "Removing" all other more important events from the small module on the homepage. How can we tell the module only to display promoted events or tell the events to be not "frontpage, promoted, featured etc." event entries?

Do I have to use more than one calendar for that? And If so, do these multiple calendars display in one "Latest events module"?

I would go for bronze, silver or gold, if there were real incentives to do so, but I don't see how these could offer me some kind of multiple categories or a system of featured event display.

Btw. which club wants money but doesn't have a street address or even an email address, I wonder…

1. The featured events plugin offers the ability to only show events with specific priority levels - e.g. 7,8,9 only.

2. there is a most recent events option in the latest events module in JEvents 2.0

3. Silver + members get the JEvents tagging addon (and custom fields) - you can use Tags to simulate multi-category events. You can have as many tags on an events as you want and can control who can create them. then you can filter your menus and modules by tag and event search for events that have a matching tag value.

4. I had a contact form on the site a while ago but 70% of the posts were support questions and the other 30% were spam so it was removed. You are right I need to add a page with company details:

GWE Systems Ltd
A UK Private Limited Company : 06190845
Registered Address: Ysgubor Uchaf, Llanfwrog, Ruthin, LL15 2AP, UK.

Dear Geraint,
I am happy to get your quick reply!

Now if I may explain the current situation in a short:

1. This is the homepage: http://www.donorplatform.org
There is a module "Upcoming" – which shows all the latest events.

2. There are thematic pages, for example: http://www.donorplatform.org/activities/climate-change – which shows thematic "Upcoming" events (here: only climate change events)

3. Imagine the Climate Change people want to add a lot events (which could all be adding up in the overall calendar: http://www.donorplatform.org/resources/calendar – but it shouldn’t show up on the homepage (1.) – as it would effectively remove these other important entries.

From what I got now: there is a featured events dropdown (great!) which works on the "event details entry page"? So I create a new event and can give a priority while editing. But as I redesigned and now use this little tweaked "Latest events module" – how can I use the featured events plugin? When installed – does it appear in the "mod_jevents_latest" parameters? Then I could set it for the one and only mod_jevents_latest on the frontpage?!

I don't get your #2. Why should it be helpful to me?

To your #3: Sometimes an event covers climate change and land for example. So it should appear in the "mod_jevents_latest" on the climate change page but also in the "mod_jevents_latest" on the land page. But it shouldn't appear twice on the homepage, of course. I thought "simple and clean" categories could do it, but tags would be fine with me too. But if there are tags, why having to set a category as well? So finally I still have to decide where to put the event: climate change category, or land category. And by looking into the overall calendar – how can I see it is filed into two category colors "orange" and "black". If I still can only have one category, where can I see it is filed under two or more?

I think it would be ok to have it only in one "main" category, as the link from the frontpage module would link to one calendar page anyway, let it be climate change – then it is not the other "categories". So tags might be appropriate to have it "also showing up" in other pages’ modules.

If you can explain the mechanisms to me I would save a lot of work, because for me this topic is really advanced tech stuff. You see what I achieved so far with your flexible component, I really hope the new wishes from my collegues can be satisfied.

And as I am member of so many Joomla-Components (community builder, rockettheme, jce, akeeba, etc.) I would go for gold if these two requests (filing, tagging of events), (priorites for display of events) could work along. If you can make clear that it would be possible, I'd try the silver membership and also would rework my design on the mod_latest_ if necessary. If it needs a little tweaking from your side, I would like to get an offer how much that would be expected cost.

Thanks so far,
René

1. Your frontpage latest events module:
I see your point - the easiest approach would be to user a template override. In this we could get a list of, say 10 events, and choose one/two from each category. This is the sort of tweak I would help a silver/gold member with in the club forum.

2. Most recent events -
It was just a thought - it may well not be relevant to your site.

3. Multiple categories
This is an often requested feature which I am planning to implement once the Joomla 1.6 migration of Jevents and all the addons is completed. so available by September possibly?

It won't be possible to do a combined category/tag search/filter like "events from category 'global' AND tags 'land'" what you would get is "events from category 'global' OR tags 'land'". You can do a search/filter like "events from tags 'land' OR 'global'".
