I am using Joomla 1.5.2. When I try to install modules mod_events_latest_1.4.3rc.zip or mod_events_cal_1.4.3rc.zip the installer fails with the following message:
JInstaller::install: Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package.
Unable to detect manifest file
The component installed without any problems before.
Previously I had already installed the 1.4.3 version and it worked, then uninstalled and installed 1.4.2, again uninstalled and now trying to reinstall 1.4.3 again.
Can anybody help?

I am glad upgrading to PHP 5 worked for you. Unfortunately that is not the problem. Something else is going on.
I successfully installed the module on my previous installation on a server running PHP 4.4.4, Now I am trying again and the installation fails:
* JInstaller::install: Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package.
* Unable to detect manifest file
There are just so many bugs, errors and incompatibilities with everything Joomla! related that I am beginning to doubt that I will ever get my site published...
If anyone can offer any help, I would really appreciate it.
