We have event calendar a site where users can post cultural events. On a day there can be up to 50 events. But a large part of these events are events like exhibitions that started months ago. If you show events in the list that are still active, but started days or months ago, the top of the list will show these events first. One has to scroll down to find the concerts, theater, parties etc. that actually are only today. One could filter the events that started before today, but then a site visitor doesn't know which exhibitions are running.

How can I create a list of today-events and beneath that a list of running events? I was thinking of inserting a module in the template (with loadmodule), but the events module has no option to show only past / running events.

I've figured out that there's a setting for this: "List multi-day events first in day list view" You can set this to No and have the running (multi-day) events below the current events.

But: this doesn't work if the multi-day event is set to all day, without a start and end time.

What about using the JEvents Latest events module and then use one of our custom module positions?

Many thanks

That was my second thought. It took me a while to get the settings right so the module will display only past (but still active) events.
