  3. Saturday, 05 April 2008
I'm not seeing what I expect with the events_latest module turned on. First, I had to tell it to look within 60 days to get it to display events in the same month. I'm not sure I understand how that works. Does setting "Days Before-After" to 60 mean it will look 30 days back and forward? I had assumed it looked 60 days forward and displayed up to 60 days back to fill my "Maximum events to display." Right now, it is displaying events on May 6th and June 3rd, but not an event I have on May 17th.

Also, I have two events on April 19th (one at 9am and one at 1pm). It is only displaying the 9am event. Does the Latest Events module only display one event per day? Maybe I just do not understand how this module is supposed to work. Is there another way to list upcoming events in JEvents?

I'm running Joomla 1.5.1 with JEvents 1.4.3SVN. The site I'm working on can be found here: [url=http://www.chieftarhe.org/:2kdpgsn1]www.chieftarhe.org[/url:2kdpgsn1].

Thanks

Nothing seems to be wrong. Your restricted the Latest Events module to display only 4 categories. The Events you are missing are assigned to a other category(Events). Do not select a category for the module if you want to see all.

From what I can tell, the settings in the Component Config screen are not being fully applied. I had it set to 8 events and 60 days back and forward and display mode 3. I modified the setting in the module to "Use params below" and set it to 15 events, 60 days back and forward, display mode 3 and everything is displaying how I expected. I'm curious why some of these settings are able to be configured in two locations. Anyways, its good to go now. I'm really looking forward to the 1.5 version of JEvents, but I think this version will do everything I need.

Is there a list of variables that can be used in the "Custom Format String?" That field is wonderful for customizing this list.

Thanks for the help!

The configuration of the module at the components configuration simplifies the way to setup the component and its modules and is sufficient for a lot of people. For advanced requirements the module itself has some more options.
Additionally you can make copies of a module instance to e.g. have more than one latest events or mini calendars with different categories, formats, layouts. Then it's evident that each instance has its own set of parameters.
For more information about the custom format string goto the Latest Events tab at the components configuration and click the symbol (?)

I'm running into a similar problem. The latest events module will not display any events after Sept 17, 2009, even though there are several events in the calendar that occur past that date. I've set the module's parameters to display a maximum of 50 events (more than enough to cover all of 2009's events) and to display events for the next 730 days. As an experiment, I lowered the maximum number of events to 10 and it showed only 10 events. When I raised it back to 50, it only showed a total of 22 events through Sept 17, 2009. I reviewed the help documentation under the Latest Events tab in the component's configuration settings, but didn't see anything related to this matter. Thanks for any help you can provide.
