OK, I realize that this question must have been asked hundreds of times and I've probably missed it in the forums and docs but for the life of me I can't find it for 2.x anywhere. And yeah, I feel like something of an idiot.

So please, from the back end, how do I do it?

Don't be! lol

I also cannot see how to do it from the backend, however! have figured it out in the front end! :D

Just go to the Ical permissions tab within Jevents config and yes to: Allow Frontend Import of Events.

Then an "Import Ical Event(s)" with appear in the add an event/admin box at the bottom of the calendar.

In the backend you simply create a new iCal calendar and select either URL or file upload type.

Hello! I am confused here...when you say front end, do you mean that any random person can import a Ical event into our calendar if we turn on this feature?

In our case, we need, in the backend, to be able to import certain events from Facebook into our calendar. Since Faebook already exports ICAL, and I have already exported one as a test it is an Ical file...how do I import that event into our events calendar from the backend"?

I have attached a screenshot of our config - thanks!

Backend imports can only be into a 'new' or dedicated (i.e. exclusive to the data source) calendar.

In the frontend authorised event creators can import from an iCal into an existing calendar if you enable this option on the ical tab of the JEvents config.
