Hello,

thanks tony for the quick respond to my previous post, we already bought the gold club membership and installed Jevents. And it seems to work perfectly.

Except for one thing: we are using the Filter with (search, location and category) as a search module also have a menu where user can choose each category individually.
The idea is that the search/filter does filter the main list but as soon as they choose a different menu/category the filter gets reset so that it doesn't continue filtering. (and user can "search" again)
I even tried to assign duplicated filter/search modules to each menu item but they take the entered field on, even if it isn't the same module altogether.

Is there a possiblity to auto-reset the filter?

(it is just too confusing and not obvious enough for our users if filtering continuous even on the next menu item)

thank you.
regards
jakoba

Is this feature implemented already? If so, how to use it?

There is a config option in the JEvents filter module to allow the filters to reset when you change menu items. Does this do what you want?

I had hoped this would solve my problem but no ....

I have a menu-item "Overview per year" and in options, I have a category included in "Select category".
Once I hit this menu-item, I can only see events for that category. Even if I select "all categoryie" in the filter module.

Any idea?

Is the menu item constrained to only show events from the one category?

Is there a URL I can look at?

Hi Geraint

Thanks for looking into my problem. In the mean time I found that I can manualy reset with a similar menu-item but with "category all". But this is not user friendly and a automatic reset is necessary.

The site is a rework of a Joomla 2.5 site into a 3.6 version with some improvements for user perception and functionality. Filtering the events was one of the requirements of the users. The site is still in test in a subdomain "j3" but I planned to bring him in production this week-end.

I include a screenshot: the menu-item that selects the events for a category is "Gepland". Once you hit this menu, you only can see events for category "wandelen". The menu-item "Reset kalender" resets the selection to all categories. For every category, there is somewhere a menu-item "Gepland" to show the events for that category.

ok - these are menu items constrained to specific categories. They are designed to not show events from other categories.

A couple of recommendations -

1. you could use a menu item that is not constrained by category (like your reset-kalendar menu item) and use the JEvents filter module (selecting a category filter).

2. In your calendar module you have not set the target menu item so it will use the current menu item when its on a JEvents menu page so some of the links when displayed on the 'Gepland' menu item will not show any matching events. You should either set the target menu item to 'reset-kalendar' OR create create a separate instance of the module for each of your categorised menu items.

Does this make sense?

Solution 1. is what it was before and users did not like that because of too complicated (= all retired people that have never worked with a computer ....).

I will try to implement your solution 2. but it may take a few days as I want to keep the side stable for some time.

Thank you very much.

Hello Geraint

I had already the chance to test solution 2. and that works perfect.

So thanks again and you may close this item.
